The Barcelona full-back would provide fantastic cover for Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Spurs fans must be incredibly frustrated with their side’s lack of transfer activity this summer, and their concerns will have been heightened following the injury picked up by Kieran Trippier on Saturday.
It is unclear at present how long the 26-year-old will be out of action, but Mauricio Pochettino will surely have to bolster his options in the right-back position, unless of course he has total faith in 20-year-old Kyle Walker-Peters to deputise for the former Burnley ace.
If the Argentine does opt to bring in established competition for Tripper though, a useful option for Tottenham could be Aleix Vidal, whose future with Barcelona remains uncertain.
Aleix Vidal of Barcelona
The 27-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Nou Camp since making his move from Sevilla in the summer of 2015, although injuries have not helped his cause.
Vidal has now returned to peak levels, from a fitness perceptive, and has looked decent for the La Liga outfit during their pre-season.
The Spaniard is wonderfully versatile, and can play in either full-back slots as well as being able to competently operate in both the left wing and right wing positions – something that would surely appeal to Pochettino.
The Barca man possesses superb awareness, and his ability to read the game, combined with impressive pace makes him a magnificent all-round player.
Vidal is still under contact with the Spanish giants until the summer of 2020 though, so he will surely not come cheap.
Tottenham should not hesitate to sign him this summer, however, as their desperation for quality additions continues to increase.
