Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello has spoken out on Cesc Fabregas’s move to Chelsea in the summer.
Barcelona starlet Cristian Tello believes that former teammate Cesc Fabregas deserved a better sending-off when he opted to join Chelsea.
The Blues wrapped up a shock deal for the former Arsenal man early in the summer after the Spanish international was heavily linked with a return to the Premier League.
Fabregas’s three-year stint at his boyhood club was a successful one as he won a total of six trophies including the FIFA Club World Cup in 2011.
The Catalan faithful, however, often harshly criticised the 27-year-old during the tougher periods despite his telling contributions and at one stage jeered him at the Nou Camp.
Barca youngster Tello – currently on loan at Porto – felt that his former teammate was harshly treated and deserved much more.
“Cesc didn’t leave Barca how he deserved – he left seemingly through the back door. He has been a spectacular player, you just have to see the goals and assists that he provided. I guess he is still hurt because it was his dream to triumph at Barca. I don’t know why the fans didn’t take to him.” He said, quoted by Spanish newspaper Marca.
Since returning to the Premier League, Fabregas has been a revelation for Jose Mourinho’s side, helping them top the table with six wins from seven games.
On 13 September following his two assists during the Blues’ 4-2 win over Swansea City, Fabregas became the first player ever in Premier League history to record at least one assist in six successive games; four under Chelsea and two under Arsenal during the 2011/12 season.
