Barcelona are ready to offload Newcastle United target Ferran Torres with a loan-to-buy deal now being targeted.
The door may be open for Newcastle United to sign and Ferran Torres with Barcelona now seeking to offload him.
That is according to SPORT, who claim that Barcelona are keen to move Torres on this summer.
However, their asking price of €40million (£34million) is thought to be a problem with few clubs ready to pay that kind of money.
Barcelona forked out £47million rising to £51million for Torres in January 2022, prising him away from Manchester City.
That means Barcelona are now seeking a loan-to-buy deal, believing that this is the best way to get a big chunk of their money back.
The hope is that Torres is loaned somewhere, plays regularly and convinces a club to buy him.
That may be better than leaving Torres on the bench, although the former City man is understood to be keen on staying and convincing Xavi to let him stay at the Camp Nou.

Newcastle United want Ferran Torres
Barcelona will hope to see plenty of interest in Torres and one exit route could be to Newcastle United.
The Daily Mail reported last week that Newcastle have discussed making a move to sign Torres.
The Magpies are targeting another winger at the moment amid links with a move for Harvey Barnes and Moussa Diaby.
Torres would be another option and the notion of a loan deal may be very appealing to the Magpies.
Newcastle have splashed the cash on Sandro Tonali and their budget will have taken a major hit.
The Telegraph reported last week that Newcastle are now looking at loan signings to bolster their squad.
Newcastle may well be tempted by a loan for Torres, bolstering Eddie Howe’s attacking options without blowing their budget.

Torres versatility could appeal to Newcastle
Torres only started 14 league games last season and was only able to muster four goals and two assists in La Liga.
The Spanish international needs to be playing regularly and his versatility could be very welcome at Newcastle.
Torres has played regularly as a winger on the left and on the right, possessing the ability to play on either side.
Pep Guardiola even played Torres as a striker at times for Manchester City, and we have seen him play that role for Spain too.
Guardiola hailed Torres as an ‘incredible’ addition for City but his move to Barca really hasn’t worked out.
Having a player who can operate all across the front line would be perfect for Newcastle and a move could work for all parties.
