Cameron Brannagan is a player who was once destined for great things at Liverpool, and whilst it never worked out at Anfield, the midfielder has now made English football history with Oxford United.

As per the Guardian, the now-25-year-old playmaker scored an astonishing four penalties in one game as Oxford claimed a massive 7-2 win against Gillingham.

Remarkably, these penalties are the first Brannagan has ever scored in his professional career, with the former Reds academy star also bagging his first senior hat-trick for good measure in what was a historic display.

Only two players have scored three penalties in a single game in the history of professional football in England, with the last occurrence coming from Gillingham this time in 2017 in a 3-2 win against Scunthorpe United.

Brannagan left Liverpool for Oxford on a permanent deal in 2018, and since then, the midfielder has asserted himself as one of the top playmakers and dead-ball specialists in League One, as well as a bit-part captain for the U’s.

Indeed, Brannagan has done well with Oxford, yet his quadruple-penalty display will no doubt go in club folklore as well as English football history, with no player ever matching such a feat.

And as for Liverpool supporters, they are blown away by Brannagan’s historic feat, which could realistically never be beaten in the upcoming decades.
