Chelsea will be aiming to cut into the top eight Champions League spots when Barcelona come to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Following their 2-0 win over Burnley, the Blues are now sitting second in the Premier League. Next up, they face a massive test at home against the reigning La Liga champions.

Cole Palmer remains out after picking up an injury in the loss to Manchester United. Hopes of a return for the Barcelona fixture are fading, and it looks like he will remain sidelined.

Palmer’s absence will be a major blow for Chelsea, who have leaned heavily on him in big matches since his arrival. It will not just be about how they fill his spot – others will need to step up as well.

On the other side, Raphinha is back fit for Barcelona after missing time earlier this season. But Pedri remains out with a hamstring injury and is not expected to travel with the squad.

The Spaniard has already missed four straight matches and is not expected back in time for this one. However, Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, is set to feature according to AS.

Despite some notable absences, Barcelona still have plenty of quality available and several players who have previously been linked with moves to Chelsea.

Despite heavy rumours linking Fermin Lopez to Chelsea over the summer, the player ultimately chose to remain with Barcelona.

The Spaniard has established himself as a more regular member of the first team and is expected to be involved in the match at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have also been connected with several of Barcelona’s defenders in recent windows, with Ronald Araujo being one of their longer-term targets.

The Blues will believe they can get the job done at home, especially with Stamford Bridge expected to be buzzing for the occasion.
