Tottenham Hotspur appear to be trailing Barcelona in the race for Luka Jovic.

Tottenham Hotspur need to bring in another striker this summer, and their search may well take them to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Harry Kane has been superb again this term, but his ankle injury in January again showed a lack of options, with Fernando Llorente simply not cutting it and potentially on his way out this summer.

Another centre forward to compete with Kane would be ideal, whilst giving Spurs a legitimate threat from the bench, though one target may be fading.

Sport note that Barcelona are pushing to land Luka Jovic ahead of Spurs, whilst AS note that talks for the Serbian hitman are already underway.

Jovic, 21, has hit 22 goals on loan for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, but his move from Benfica is expected to become permanent at the end of the campaign, when he will move on – seemingly to Barca.

That’s a blow for Spurs, but they shouldn’t look too far for an alternative target, as Jovic’s strike partner Sebastien Haller would be ideal for Mauricio Pochettino.

Haller has been sensational this season, smashing 19 goals and 12 assists for Frankfurt, showing that he is more than just a tall battering ram; he’s a well-rounded centre forward who can score on the ground or in the air whilst having an appreciation for runs around him.

The Frenchman still has that brute force that Llorente was supposed to provide, and at just 24, he still has potential to improve – which is just what Spurs love.

Spurs looked at Haller in 2016 when he was with Utrecht according to The Telegraph, whilst newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung claimed in November that Haller is still on the Tottenham radar. If that’s true, then Spurs should definitely look to cushion the blow of losing out on Jovic by targeting his equally impressive teammate.
