Barcelona want to sign Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva and have not given up on landing him despite his huge price tag.

That is according to one report from TEAMtalk.

They state that Barcelona are keen to bring Bernardo Silva to the Spotify Camp Nou but have been unable to put together a package that would meet Manchester City‘s valuation.

The report claims that City want up to £80m to sell the 28-year-old this summer, so it is going to be a tricky deal for the La Liga side to pull off.

The European champions have already lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona, so you suspect that they are very reluctant to part ways with another key player in the same transfer window.

New challenge for Bernardo Silva

From Silva’s perspective, it would not be a complete shock if he wanted to leave the Etihad for the Spotify Camp Nou.

After City’s treble last season, which saw them finally claim the Champions League, the Portugal international has now won practically every trophy at the club.

Therefore, a new challenge may appeal to Silva. City supporters and Pep Guardiola will be desperate for him to stay, though.

The former AS Monaco man is such a talented and clever player, with his understanding of the game being described as “unbelievable” by team-mate Kevin De Bruyne.

City’s squad is so strong that you would expect them to win the Premier League this upcoming season and go far in the Champions League even if they sold Silva.

Still, losing him would be a blow, especially after watching Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez both depart.

It does not look like Barcelona are going to be able to afford him, though, so unless the Citizens’ valuation of their player drops, he will probably be staying at the Etihad for the 2023/24 campaign.
