FC Barcelona have reportedly ruled out any intention of moving for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves in January, with Liverpool believed to be interested in signing the Portuguese international.
According to AS, the Catalan giants have ‘totally ruled out’ a move for the Premier League maestro as Barcelona will now look at other midfield options in the winter market to replace Sergio Busquets, who is set to leave the club at the end of the window.
Central midfield is a position that Xavi Hernandez is eager to add to in January with Neves a player that was seemingly set to sign for Barcelona in the coming weeks. However, a deal for the Wolves star to head to the Camp Nou is now seemingly off.
The news will come as a massive boost for Liverpool, who according to TeamTalk are eyeing Neves as a signing next month, with Jurgen Klopp looking to sign two midfielders as the Reds aim to revamp their entire midfield in 2023.

Indeed, with Neves’ contract set to expire in 2024, a potential bargain could be on the table in January if Liverpool were to now move for the midfielder, with Barcelona dropping out of the race making it a lot easier for the Reds to land the Portuguese international.
As a result, Liverpool could solve a major problem in their squad by signing Neves, a move that many supporters will be pleased to see if the Reds can also bring in a young name such as Jude Bellingham or Enzo Fernandez, a pair that have been heavily linked with Jurgen Klopp’s side as well.
Liverpool have to sign Neves with Barcelona now out of the race

Liverpool have been handed a lifeline with Barcelona dropping out of the race to sign Neves, with the Reds now in the perfect position to press on and land the Wolves star in what could be one of the best deals of the January window.
With a midfield a position of major importance for Liverpool, signing a quality player in the position will give the club the boost it needs to get back on their feet, and Neves could be that player given his incredible amount of experience in the Premier League and internationally with Portugal.
