Lionel Messi has praised the Celtic Park atmosphere in Marca, after playing against the Bhoys in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Messi was at his devastating best for Barcelona against Celtic in midweek, and he scored both the Catalan side’s goals in their 2-0 win.
Messi first finished brilliantly, after a wonderful pass from Neymar, and he added his second from the spot.
Barcelona ended up winning fairly comfortably against Brendan Rodgers’ side, but the way that Celtic fans backed their team impressed Messi.
“The atmosphere [at Celtic Park] is great, I’m happy with the result and our qualification,” he said.
Messi’s thoughts were backed up by Barca midfielder Andre Gomes, who said it was an honour to play in such an atmosphere on social media website Twitter.
Celtic’s defeat to Barcelona has ended their European campaign for the season, as they are now guaranteed to finish at the bottom of their group.
Celtic have picked up two points in the Champions League so far, after drawing with Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bhoys’ final match in the competition comes against Pep Guardiola’s City side in December.
