According to BBC Sport, the Toffees have had to pay Barca a loan fee of £2 million to secure the services of the 25-year-old central midfielder.
The Portugal intentional midfielder joined Barcelona from La Liga rivals Valencia in the summer of 2016 for an initial transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £29.3m.
The former Benfica star failed to make a huge impact during his two seasons at Barcelona and could not impress the Spanish club’s fans.
The 25-year-old midfielder made just six starts in La Liga last season and 17 starts in the league during the 2016-17 campaign, according to WhoScored.
