Is Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo really the next Virgil van Dijk? Well, that’s that what some Barca fans believe.

Araujo only came on at half time on Saturday afternoon as he replaced Oscar Mingueza in Barcelona’s 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan made a big impression though, helping to shackle ex-Barca star and compatriot Luis Suarez in the Atleti attack.

Araujo is only 22, but is already earning rave reviews from Barca fans who certainly don’t want to see him sold any time soon.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano reported that Everton want to sign Araujo this summer as Carlo Ancelotti pursues a new centre back.

Everton have good links to Barca having signed Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes from them in the past, but Barcelona allegedly aren’t keen on letting Araujo make the move to Goodison Park.

If he continues to be a substitute though, few could blame him for wanting to move on – even with Barca fans convinced that he is a star of the future.

Barca fans have been comparing Araujo to Liverpool star Van Dijk, believing that he is a ‘tank’ who just cannot be dribbled past – sounds familiar doesn’t it?
