Tottenham Hotspur may have failed to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona on January transfer deadline day, but a new report suggests that there is still a chance that they could get him.

Tottenham made deadline-day move for Ousmane Dembele

TuttoMercatoWEB reported on Monday evening that Tottenham had made a late move for Barcelona winger Dembele.

However, Tottenham could not find an agreement with La Liga giants Barcelona.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

However, there might still be a way for Spurs to sign the former Borussia Dortmund winger.

If, of course, he actually wants to move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Barcelona considering drastic action

AS are reporting today that Barcelona are considering terminating the contract of Dembele, whose current deal at the Spanish giants runs out at the end of the season.

The report has claimed that this ‘drastic’ but ‘effective’ action would mean that Barcelona pay Dembele’s for the remaining months of his contract.

Another option that the former Spanish and European giants are reportedly considering is handing the France international winger ‘a letter of freedom’.

This means that Dembele would leave Barcelona by mutual consent and would continued to be paid by them until he finds a new club.

The third option is to keep Dembele at the club but sends him to the stands, which head coach Xavi does not want.

Hope for Spurs

So, based on this new report in AS, it seems that there is still a chance that Tottenham could sign Dembele, and that too effectively on a free transfer.

Now, of course, Tottenham would have to agree a deal with Dembele, who, if he left Barcelona now, could have other clubs after him.

One thing is for sure, though.

We have not heard the last of the story about Barcelona and Dembele.
