Barcelona are pushing to sign teenager Ivan Fresneda with any chance of a move to Arsenal set to be ruled out.

Ivan Fresneda to Arsenal rumours finally look set to end with Barcelona making a real push to sign him.

That is according to a report from Catalan newspaper SPORT, who claim that Barcelona are ready to accelerate their move for Fresneda.

It’s stated that Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez is absolutely desperate to sign an ew right back.

There have been links to Joao Cancelo but Barcelona now look set to go in a very different direction.

Rather than go for an established full back like Manchester City star Cancelo, Barcelona are going for a young prospect.

It’s suggested that whilst Fresneda has a release clause of around €20million (£17million), Barcelona are trying to bring the price down.

Fresneda has allegedly been waiting for Barcelona to make their move and they are his top choice if he is to leave Valladolid.

Arsenal set to be ruled out of Ivan Fresneda race

Fresneda burst onto the scene last season, recording 22 La Liga appearances for Valladolid.

The 18-year-old sadly suffered relegation from La Liga at the end of the season but showed enough potential to earn major interest.

Fresneda has been heavily linked with a Premier League move in recent months, specifically with Arsenal.

Reports from the Daily Mail in January suggested that Arsenal had matched Borussia Dortmund’s £13million move for the right back.

Goal even claimed that Fresneda’s agent Luis Bardaji visited Arsenal’s training ground but no deal was done in January.

Fabrizio Romano noted in May that Arsenal were still eyeing up a move for Fresneda but it looks like the Gunners won’t be making their move.

Arsenal will seemingly use new signing Jurrien Timber as additional right back cover, moving on from the Fresneda interest.

That allows Barcelona to strike a deal and Arsenal will have to hope that he doesn’t become a superstar at the Camp Nou.
