Baptiste Santamaria might still be on Aston Villa’s radar.

Despite signing Marvellous Nakamba this week, Aston Villa may still be interested in bringing in Baptiste Santamaria.
The day after Aston Villa announced Nakamba, RMC Sport in France claimed that Dean Smith had a £9 million bid for the Angers midfielder rejected.
That indicates that Smith wants Nakamba and Santamaria at Bodymoor Heath – and if he gets the latter, it might be their most impressive signing of the window.
The Villans have pulled off a couple of very good deals so far but, considering the competition, Santamaria could be the pick of the bunch if it materialises.
That is because Monaco are also interested in the 24-year-old [Get France Football News].
The Ligue 1 giants had a rotten season last time around, but they have a number of household names and if Santamaria deems the West Midlands a more exciting project then what a massive feather in the cap that is for Smith.
Villa have done some very decent business this summer, but pipping a club like Monaco to the Frenchman may represent a flagship moment, a sign, if any more were needed, that they’re going in the right direction.
