It’s been more than four years since LIV Golf first came onto the scene, and the divide between the two tours shows no sign of closing.

Talks of a deal have gone quiet again, leaving fans stuck with a split field outside the major championships.

For now, it’s only the majors that still bring everyone together.

The PGA Tour have often pointed fingers at LIV for causing the split, but one player not only disagrees but has also taken aim at Scottie Scheffler over his comments.

Hudson Swafford disagrees with Scottie Scheffler’s comments about PGA-LIV divide

Speaking to the media, Scheffler suggested that questions about the divide should be put to LIV players rather than those on the PGA Tour.

But Hudson Swafford, who moved to LIV in 2022 and is suspended from the PGA Tour until 2027, believes the world No. 1 has missed the mark.

Swafford says most LIV players would welcome a chance to play PGA Tour events again if given the opportunity, but feels it is not up to them.

Discussing James Piot’s sponsor exemption at this year’s Rocket Classic, the Florida native said: “I think the sponsors should be able to do whatever they want. How much money are they paying now? They are paying a ton.”

“I think they should be able to do what they want, and one thing that I do disagree with Scottie Scheffler on, I have seen in a couple of PGA Tour press conferences, he said the media should go over to LIV and ask those players why the Tour is divided.

“I will be honest with you, the whole consensus of LIV players is that they would play the PGA Tour events. Whether or not they get into 15 events, I don’t know, but they would love to go and play a number of events on the Tour.

“I would love to go and play [The American Express], I would love to go and play a place I have won twice. There are a number of events I would still try and play if I were allowed.

“So they have created this narrative that the LIV guys don’t care about the PGA Tour and don’t want to be a part of it, when in all reality, everybody would go back and play a number of events on tour, but that’s just not allowed.”

Lucas Glover shares strong views against allowing LIV golfers back on PGA Tour

Not all PGA Tour players are open to the idea of LIV golfers returning, and 2009 US Open champion Lucas Glover is one of them.

Glover explained that after dedicating so much time and effort to the PGA Tour, it would not be right for those who left to come back and have the same opportunities as everyone else.

“I don’t want to play with them, personally. I don’t think they should be back here. I don’t want them here,” he said.

“They made their decision, and I don’t blame any of them. I don’t care, but they also went away from this tour, and they chose to.

“As a PGA Tour player, and somebody who dreamed of playing on the PGA Tour, and have poured my heart and soul into this tour and game for 21 seasons now, I don’t want somebody who chose another path – a path of less resistance…

“I don’t want them back competing and taking part of my pie and these kids’ pie who are trying to make it now. I don’t want that.”
