If Everton do sell Wayne Rooney this summer, Newcastle United should attempt to make a move.

Newcastle United should consider making an ambitious swoop for Everton’s Wayne Rooney in the summer transfer window.
The Daily Mirror have suggested that Everton could look to cash in on Rooney this summer, as they look to trim their squad.
If Rooney is made available then his options in the Premier League could be limited, but he may just be a good fit at Newcastle.

Rafael Benitez has expressed a desire to bring in experience at St. James’ Park, and few available options could offer more than Rooney in that sense.
The England international has a vast amount of knowhow, having won nearly every major club title during his time with Manchester United.
Of course, Rooney would have to take a pay cut to move to Newcastle.

But if the 32-year-old does value playing in the Premier League, over his salary, then he will almost certainly have to reduce his wages wherever he goes.
Rooney could offer Newcastle a great deal – either as a striker or as a midfielder, as he has more recently been played.
And if Everton are set to offload Rooney, as reports have suggested, then Newcastle should enquire to see whether a deal could be possible.
