Ray Parlour has claimed that Cristian Romero was ‘bang out of order’ for screaming in Harry Maguire’s face during Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Man United on Saturday, as he told talkSPORT.

The Highbury legend added that Romero didn’t need to do that and should have instead ran away and celebrated Tottenham’s goal.

At the time, Maguire had put the ball into the back of his own net, following a cross from Sergio Reguilon.

If Maguire hadn’t got to the ball, then Romero was on his shoulder waiting to pounce, although he was in an offside position.

Regardless of that, when Maguire poked the ball into the wrong net, Romero turned around and proceeded to scream in the player’s face as he was sat on the floor.

That’s something Parlour wasn’t having, as he explained that there was no need for his actions.

“No, bang out of order,” said Parlour. “I think that is bang out of order. Absolutely. I don’t think I would do that.

“I know it’s a big game. I don’t know the situation, really. But you don’t need to do that. Just take the goal, run away, celebrate the goal. Don’t (do that).”

Well, Romero will learn never to jump the gun again because Tottenham ended up conceding again to lose the showdown 3-2.

It was a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick that further dampened Tottenham’s hopes of Champions League football next season.

But, come the next campaign, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Maguire and his Man United teammates remember the actions of Romero.

That’s something that might still come back to haunt him even further because players and fans don’t forget.
