Tottenham legend Graham Roberts wasn’t a happy man on Twitter on Saturday after journalist Oliver Holt aimed a ‘dig’ at Spurs following Liverpool’s 7-0 win at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool demolished Palace yesterday when they put seven goals past the London side – only last week Spurs had recorded a draw against the very same opponent.

It prompted The Mail on Sunday journalist, Holt, to post this message on Twitter about Tottenham following Liverpool’s demolition job:

Roberts was quick to react to the message with a series of angry responses. He defended Tottenham by trying to brush off any comparisons trying to be made with Liverpool.

The club legend accused the journalist of having a ‘grudge’ against Jose Mourinho and how he should be been banned from the stadium.

Added with that, Roberts also made reference to claims of Liverpool being the ‘best side in the country’ and how various results this season could prove many arguments given the crazy nature of what has happened.

Liverpool are proudly sitting top of the Premier League table, at this moment in time – they hold a six-point lead over Spurs, who can reduce that to three if they beat Leicester today.

From Liverpool’s perspective, they have lost the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term injuries – plus they were shipping seven goals in one game not so long ago themselves.

Not only that, but they have also played the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Everton already this season, yet they are in such a commanding situation.

Simply put, just like Spurs, both have had outstanding seasons so far and given the way thing are going it wouldn’t be a surprise if they are the top two at the end of the season.
