Gabby Agbonlahor has called for Gareth Southgate to be banned from Villa Park after he decided to leave Jack Grealish out of his latest England squad.

The former Premier League striker was reacting to Aston Villa’s Instagram message yesterday where they were congratulating Tyrone Mings and John McGinn on their respective calls up – but, of course, there was none for Grealish.

And in the comments section, Agbonlahor made his feelings clear about the England manager by stating: ‘Southgate is miles off it. Ban him from Villa Park’.

There was an uproar when Southgate opted to leave the Villa playmaker out of his squad despite his performances in a Claret & Blue shirt last season.

Many felt this was the time for him to be selected, but it clearly wasn’t to be, as Southgate himself admitted that he was expecting a reaction from the Villa Park faithful, as he told the Metro.

It has to be questioned what Grealish has to do in order to earn a maiden England call because his teammate Mings can get one, but he cannot, so it’s not a club thing.

Only Kevin de Bruyne created more chances than the Englishmen last season, and of the midfield players in the England squad, he tops the list when it comes to goals and assists.

It’s quite clear that Southgate simply doesn’t rate the boyhood Villa fan, who can only prove the national coach wrong by producing the goods once again when the new season starts in September.
