Patrick Bamford has revealed to Sky Sports that Leeds United put substance ahead of style on Tuesday evening against Southampton.
Leeds ran out 3-0 winners over the Saints and they actually took a slightly more direct approach than usual in the second half.
But Leeds’ players were just determined to get the three points secured.
And Bamford said that the Whites decided that they weren’t particularly bothered about entertaining on Tuesday, even before the warm-up.
“We said before we started the warm up that more important than anything was wining today, no matter how we did it,” the striker said.
“To be honest it was quite an evening game – that’s the first team that has come and press similar to the way we do. It made it difficult.
“It was really about who got the first goal, fortunately we got it and went on to get the three points.”
In the end Leeds managed to win, and still provide plenty of entertainment.

Bamford set the Whites on their way to victory, before goals from Stuart Dallas and Raphinha sealed their triumph.
The win got Leeds back on track after two consecutive defeats and pushed them up to 10th place in the Premier League table.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are next in action on Sunday, when they take on Aston Villa.
