Patrick Bamford has revealed to the Leeds United podcast that Marcelo Bielsa was so demanding of him against Southampton.
Bamford put Leeds in front in their 3-0 win over the Saints on Tuesday night, but it wasn’t praise that Bielsa was screaming at him after the goal.
Instead, the Argentine boss was demanding that Bamford continued sprinting even after getting on the scoresheet.
It meant that the Leeds striker got through some serious mileage during the contest.
And Bamford said: “Do you know what? The fitness coach came up to me this morning and goes, you’ve got a good excuse for being a bit tired and having a tight hammy, because your stats are unbelievable from running.
“I know that when the running guy says that that I’ve run a bit further than usual because they are absolutely sticklers for making sure you’re running far enough.
“The worst thing is that as I’m jogging back after the goal I hear Marcelo shouting at me ‘again, again’.
“I was like ‘okay I’ve got it’, then every time after I did a sprint, I’d hear ‘good Patrick, good’ and then the next word would be ‘work, work’.

“It sounds like it could be annoying but in a weird way it helps. I would still run but I don’t think there would be individual or single efforts I’d put in without him shouting.”
Bamford has always been a tireless worker for Leeds, but he really is getting his rewards for his efforts this season.
Bamford’s goal against Southampton was his 13th of the season, which puts him among the top scorers in the whole division.
The Leeds forward’s form has surpassed expectations this term, and he is now being talked about as a potential option for England.
Bamford went on to confirm on the podcast that despite being tired after the game he will be fully ready to feature on Saturday against Aston Villa, when he will surely get the nod to start again.
