This weekend will see a key match-up between Leeds United defender Sol Bamba and former Leeds player Tom Lees.

Leeds United have the home advantage this weekend when they host Sheffield Wednesday in Saturday’s lunchtime game.

The Yorkshire derby sees the return of a former Leeds United player to Elland Road in Tom Lees, who will be looking to fight hard and ensure that his side can secure an impressive result, which improves their league position.

Leeds will be determined to show that they have long since moved on from their Tom Lees days, with captain Sol Bamba arguably the most important player in the current back four under manager Uwe Rosler.

The good news for Leeds fans is that Bamba has been more effective in four key areas, compared to Lees who excels in just one.

However, that could be evidence that Leeds have invited more pressure onto themselves, while Sheffield Wednesday may have controlled games more effectively, which takes some of the pressure off of the defence.

Bamba seems to be more aggressive, seems to have a better sense of when to just get the ball out of play, he appears to be tougher physically while he also seems to be reading the game more effectively.

He’s sharp and in form according to the stats, whereas Lees seems to have a point to prove, which won’t be easy against a very talented side and passionate home crowd breathing down his neck, as they try to get beneath his skin.
