Miguel Almiron is in stunning form and continued his brilliant start to the season with a superb winner for Newcastle United against Everton on Wednesday night – prompting praise from Newcastle duo Jacob Murphy and Nick Pope.
Almiron, 28, has endured a difficult time at Newcastle, on the whole. Joining the club for £20m in January 2019, he has had to endure defensive-style of play under Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce. Under Eddie Howe, he is a different animal.
Indeed, coming into this season, he had only scored 14 goals in 123 games in all competitions. But this time around, he has five goals in 11 Premier League matches. He is Newcastle’s top scorer and starting to show why he was signed.
Almiron took to Instagram, clutching the man-of-the-match trophy accompanied by his wife. It comes after cutting inside and curling the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the area, way past the reach of Jordan Pickford.

What a player Almiron is turning out to be. With four goals in four games, the Paraguay international is becoming one of the in-form players of the Premier League. He could have easily doubled his tally in the second half of the game.
Cutting inside and attempting to curl another one into the top corner, his effort drifted just over the bar. Everton goalkeeper Pickford was nowhere to be seen. Ultimately, a brilliant win for Newcastle, who now sit in a lofty sixth.
His Newcastle players are clearly delighted with the form of the attacking midfielder. Indeed, Murphy and Pope both responded to the ex-Atlanta United star’s post – with Murphy even suggesting the “Ballon d’Or”.
Pope, meanwhile, said Almiron’s award for man of the match was well “deserved”.
