Yannick Bolasie has praised Martin Odegaard on Twitter for producing a dazzling display to help see Mikel Arteta’s side come from behind and beat Wolves 2-1 in the Premier League.

The Gunners overturned an early deficit at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night to pull into fifth-place in the table. They now trail Manchester United by a single point for the last of the Champions League places. But they still hold two games in hand over the Red Devils.

Defeat to Wolves would have seen Bruno Lage’s Molineux natives climb above Arsenal and leave Arteta’s men in seventh. Yet the north London outfit battled to overcome a defensive opponent and put themselves in the box seat for a UEFA berth with 14 matches still to play.

Odegaard leads Arsenal comeback vs Wolves

Odegaard led Arsenal’s comeback against Wolves with the £34m summer signing from Real Madrid constantly pulling the strings. The 23-year-old always appeared the most likely man to carve an opening in the away side’s organised ranks to keep the pressure on Lage’s side.

His passing was often stellar and was eventually rewarded after finding Eddie Nketiah, who fed Nicolas Pepe to equalise. The Norwegian played a delightful chip over into the box and free Nketiah, who cut back to fellow substitute Pepe. Odegaard then came close to scoring.

But Odegaard could only clip the outside of Jose Sa’s crossbar with a creative chip from the edge of the box. It would have been his fifth goal in 26 games this term in all competitions.

Odegaard dazzles Bolasie with Emirates Stadium display

Odegaard dazzled ex-Everton and Crystal Palace ace Bolasie with his work as Arsenal beat Wolves on Thursday. He left the DR Congo forward in awe with his work at the Emirates, as the midfielder continues to flourish and grow into his leading role in boss Arteta’s system.

“Odegaard is such a baller,” Bolasie wrote. “What a player, quality to watch.”
