Jack Grealish stated on his Instagram story that Tanguy Ndombele is a ‘baller’ as he watched the Tottenham man in action during his side’s defeat to Brighton on Sunday evening.
In the Premier League today, Aston Villa’s boyhood fan is perhaps one of the best ball-carriers, if not the best, in the division, but one man that can match him is Ndombele – albeit with different styles.
The Tottenham midfielder was showcasing those silky and driving skills at the Amex Stadium, but it wasn’t enough to prevent his team from falling to another defeat.
What is even worse from Spurs’ perspective is that Ndombele hobbled off in the second half, with what looked like an ankle problem.
Ndombele has been twisting and turning many an opponent this season, and as Grealish will testify to, it’s not pretty when he’s kicked in the ankles for fun because it does eventually take its toll.
Well, the thriving Frenchman has a fan in another rising star over in the Midlands and it will raise the question of ‘what if’ from the Tottenham supporters.
It was well-documented that before Villa’s promotion to the Premier League that those in the North London boardroom were keen to sign him up.
But a move didn’t materialise for the Solihull-born player, as the duo would have made some partnership in the middle of the park.
Nonetheless, for Spurs and Jose Mourinho, their worry will now be on suffering another defeat in the Premier League and the possibility that Ndombele could join Harry Kane in the treatment room.
