Manchester United and Spurs both reportedly interested in Gareth Bale. Which is the Real Madrid star more likely to join?

Real Madrid want to offload Gareth Bale this summer, according to the Daily Star, and have slapped a £69.9m price-tag on the Welshman.

The same report says that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in re-signing a player they sold to Los Blancos five years ago in a then world record £85.3m transfer (BBC).

Spurs are considering a deal, but chairman Daniel Levy is only willing to pay £43.7m to bring Bale back to North London – with the 28-year-old also open to a Premier League return.

Stumbling block

Landing the attacker could prove problematic because of the £350,000-a-week wages the Wales international is said to currently earn at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

As the Daily Mail reports, Tottenham have a strict wage structure in place with top scorer Harry Kane currently the highest earner at the club on less than a third of what Bale gets with £110,000-a-week.

Which is why claims from the Mirror that Manchester United are also looking to sign the Madrid star make more sense, with Goal reporting that they already currently pay January signing Alexis Sanchez £350,000-a-week.
