Tottenham face Southampton on Wednesday evening in a game that actually matters again after the collapse of the European Super League.
So much has changed in English football since we last saw Spurs on the pitch, the Super League formed and disbanded, Jose Mourinho was sacked and Ryan Mason was appointed until the end of the season.
Mason hasn’t had long to assess his Spurs squad, but he has a number of big decisions to make ahead of this one.
With the new gaffer in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting Tottenham’s starting XI for this one.
We think that Mason could make a number of changes for this one.
Interestingly, we don’t expect Spurs to move too far away from the 4-2-3-1 we’ve grown accustomed to seeing them play this term, but we do think that there could be a few personnel changes.
We think the backline will remain the same in terms of personnel, but a slight formation change sees Eric Dier dropped, despite the fact he was clearly one of Mourinho’s favoured players during his time at the club.
The midfield also has changes, Moussa Sissoko drops out and Dele Alli remarkably returns, while there’s also a place for Gareth Bale in this XI.
Harry Kane, who was one of Mourinho’s most important players and a man who remained loyal to the ex-Chelsea boss, drops out of this side due to injury after Mason confirmed he missed his first training session.
Therefore, Carlos Vinicius starts up top.
