Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has been in fine form this season.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is the current best midfielder in the world but highlights lack of consistency as his major weakness, Sky Sports report.
The German international broke records for the amount of Premier League assists last season, and so far this campaign it appears that he has added those elusive goals to his well-rounded game.
Ozil has netted six times already this season, and in midweek he posted his first career hat-trick as he helped himself to three goals during Arsenal’s 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets.
When quizzed during his Sky Sports Q&A session on whether Ozil is the best midfielder in the world, Balague responded positively though he later questioned the player’s ability to keep it up.
“This week he is! He’s scored six goals in 10 games, so he is a midfielder that has got an impact in games, not just with goals but with assists too. He’s looking really sharp, really good,” Balague explained.
“My problem with him has always, always been that he goes up and down. He’s on a high, can he keep it up? So far at Arsenal he’s shown that he isn’t able to keep it up, but let’s see.”
Ozil has seemingly flourished alongside the likes of Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez who are also at the top of their game right now and pushing Arsenal towards the Premier League summit.
The Gunners have profited from their attacking play of late to record six straight league wins, leaving them level on points with Manchester City but trailing the Citizens on goal difference.
Arsenal host Middlesbrough this weekend and with the form of their attacking players, Arsene Wenger’s men will be confident of another victory and a few goals to boot.
