Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with Barcelona. The Spanish giants are on the lookout for a successor to Luis Enrique, who will step down from his role at the end of the season, and Pochettino has reportedly been mentioned.
According to a report in The Sun last week, Pochettino had dinner in Barcelona with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu. The Spurs manager has since dismissed suggestion of him switching to Camp Nou, and has been quoted as saying as saying by BBC Sport that he would not take the Barca job as he is an Espanyol fan.
Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague does not think that Pochettino will take charge of Barcelona, and has outlined a family issue he would face if he ever wanted to.
“The problem is that Pochettino not only has to convince himself that it is a good idea to go to Barcelona, which of course he may be able to do, but he has got to convince his wife and his two kids,” said Balague on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 11am, March 31, 2017).”The three of them are Espanyol fans.”
Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 59 points from 28 matches, 10 points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are currently second in the La Liga table with 63 points from 28 games.
