Guillem Balague has suggested to Sky Sports that reported Liverpool target Dani Ceballos wants to stay at Real Madrid.

According to Don Balon, Liverpool are interested in signing Ceballos from Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old midfielder has struggled to make an impact at Madrid this season following his move from Real Betis in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £14.5 million.

Well-known Spanish football journalist Balague has suggested that Ceballos wants to remain at the Spanish giants for the 2018-19 campaign.

Balague told Sky Sports: “Ceballos is of the thinking that he’s at the perfect place for his football, after all, he’s at Real Madrid. So it’s just a matter of him fighting for more playing time.”

“Ceballos wants to fight for his place,” added Balague. “There will be changes in the make-up of Real Madrid’s squad next season so I think he will want to be there.”

Promising talent

Ceballos is a hugely talented and promising young midfielder, and it does not come as a surprise that Liverpool are (reportedly) interested in the Spain Under-21 international.

However, the youngster is already at the biggest club in the world, and it would not make much sense for him to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after just one season.

Ceballos has made two starts and eight substitute appearances for Madrid so far this season, scoring two goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
