Baker Mayfield appears ready to renew his long-standing feud with Kevin Stefanski, sending a pointed message to his former coach as they prepare to face off in the same division next season.
Baker Mayfield, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, took a shot at Kevin Stefanski after the former Cleveland Browns coach was named head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
Mayfield did not hold back when asked about his time under Stefanski, and the two are now set to meet twice a year in the NFC South.

Baker Mayfield calls out Kevin Stefanski
In a post on X, Baker Mayfield accused Kevin Stefanski of cutting ties without a word after the Browns traded him. He suggested their relationship had already started to break down before the move.
Mayfield reminded Stefanski that he never reached out following their split in 2022, reigniting one of the NFL’s most personal player-coach rivalries heading into the 2026 season.
“I’m still waiting on a text or call from him after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can’t wait to see you twice a year, Coach,” Mayfield said.
The comments quickly circulated on social media, sparking renewed debate about the tension between the two during their time in Cleveland.
Their fallout reportedly began over play-calling disagreements and the Browns’ pursuit of Deshaun Watson in 2022.
NFC South rivalry takes shape for 2026
With Kevin Stefanski now in charge of the Atlanta Falcons and Baker Mayfield entering his third full season with Tampa Bay, their rivalry has a new chapter in the NFC South.
Both teams are expected to compete for the division title, adding another layer of intensity to their upcoming meetings.
Baker Mayfield has rebuilt his career in Tampa Bay, guiding the Buccaneers to consecutive playoff appearances and re-establishing himself as one of the league’s most vocal leaders.
Kevin Stefanski, meanwhile, faces pressure to deliver results in Atlanta after an inconsistent spell in Cleveland — setting the stage for a rivalry filled with both personal and professional stakes.
