Leeds United lost 1-0 at Aston Villa on Friday night.

Leeds United’s torrid 2018 continued on Friday night as they were beaten 1-0 away at promotion-chasing Aston Villa, with Lewis Grabban scoring the only goal of the game.
The Whites had lost 3-1 to Preston North End in midweek, meaning they had taken just 12 points from a possible 51 since the turn of the year, with new boss Paul Heckingbottom still struggling.
It’s now just two wins in 18 games in 2018 for Leeds after their latest defeat, as Grabban headed home Jack Grealish’s first half cross to seal the win for the hosts at Villa Park.
Leeds couldn’t get back into the game and were condemned to yet another defeat under Heckingbottom, leading to even louder calls from fans for the ex-Barnsley boss to be sacked already – despite only being appointed in February.

Leeds’ season is petering out into a dismal end, but if there is something that Heckingbottom should be praised for, it’s the opportunities given to academy graduates in the final weeks of the campaign.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce both started Friday’s trip to Villa Park, with the two players – 21 and 20 respectively – taking to Twitter after the final whistle to send messages to fans.
Peacock-Farrell wasn’t happy with the result but was pleased to be awarded the man of the match award, whilst Pearce thanked the travelling supporters who once again cheered on Leeds in another defeat.
