West Ham and Everton are both keen to sign Danny Ings from Aston Villa – a player Gary Lineker seems to admire.
It was the Daily Mail who revealed that David Moyes and Frank Lampard are interested in the England international, who has been told he can leave Villa Park – according to talkSPORT.
If West Ham or Everton do manage to sign Ings this month, the deal would seemingly come with Lineker’s approval.
What’s the story?
Well, the BBC Match of the Day host wrote on Twitter that he felt Ings had “bags of potential” when completing a move from Burnley to Liverpool back in June 2015.
Lineker tweeted: “Liverpool are doing much needed business, signing Danny Ings. He’s got bags of potential. Wish him well.”
The 62-year-old also spoke at length with Ings on the BBC about potentially winning the Premier League Golden Boot in 2020, while suggesting that a return to the England squad should also be on the horizon.
Unfortunately, the 30-year-old missed out on the 2019/20 Golden Boot by just a single goal, as Jamie Vardy scored 23 goals to his 22 strikes in the lockdown hit Premier League season.
Nevertheless, that stunning campaign earned Ings a £25m move to Aston Villa, where things haven’t exactly gone smoothly for him.
The Aston Villa No.9 has already seen two managers depart in Dean Smith and Steven Gerrard, while he has only scored 14 goals in 50 appearances for the Villans – he is capable of more, without a doubt.
Everton need Danny Ings more than West Ham
In our view, Lampard should push hard to bring Ings to Goodison Park this month – it could be the difference between survival and relegation for the Toffees.

Moyes already has a £36m frontman in Gianluca Scamacca as well as the effective Michail Antonio.
However, Everton – who sit 18th in the Premier League – have seen summer signing Neal Maupay score just one goal in 15 appearances, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin is too injury prone to be relied on.
Keep an eye on this situation, as we expect Ings to leave Aston Villa this month.
