Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing about Southampton’s interest in Ibrahim Sangare, as reported by The Telegraph.
The report states that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side view the Toulouse midfielder as a direct replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who recently left for Tottenham.
The Saints desperately need a new centre-midfielder, having lost Harrison Reed and Mario Lemina as well as the Denmark international.
Sangare is a very highly-rated player.
African journalist Alpha Balde compared him to Premier League legends Yaya Toure and Michael Essien, while Goal say his ex-Toulouse teammate Max Gradel nicknamed him after the former Manchester City star.
Goal quote Balde as saying: ‘Physically, he’s like Yaya Toure but he reminds me of Michael Essien.’

Also, at just 22 years of age, the Ivorian’s ceiling for improvement is very high.
A swoop for Sangare would be shrewd given the fact he has one year left on his contract with the Ligue 2 outfit, and that appears to have provoked a reaction from Arsenal fans.
Mikel Arteta is seemingly keen on a new centre-midfielder this window.

According to Sky Sports, they have Chelsea’s Jorginho, Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar on their shortlist.
Despite being interested in the trio, it is Southampton’s pursuit of Sangare that has sparked Arsenal fans into a frenzy on Twitter.
Let’s see what they’ve been saying…
