Newcastle United’s retained list has caused quite a stir on social media.

The Magpies are releasing four players – Vurnon Anita, Sammy Ameobi, Lubo Satka and Haris Vuckic – after their return to the Premier League, but are in talks to keep a fifth out of contract player, Yoan Gouffran.

The winger scored five goals and created four in 39 Championship appearances en route to promotion, but looked as though he could be on his way out of St James’ Park.

And while that might still be the case, Gouffran could remain a Newcastle player for the coming campaign.

Here’s what they have been saying…

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is expected to bring in a number of new recruits this summer, with a winger said to be among the Spaniard’s targets, whether Gouffran renews his deal or not.
