Rio Ferdinand and Darren Bent have criticised Arsenal central defender Gabriel on Twitter for giving away a penalty against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the first half of the North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand and ex-Tottenham striker Bent both believe that Gabriel should have done better in the penalty incident in the first half of the Premier League game.

Brazil international forward Richarlison beat Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka in the box and was then brought down by the £27 million (SkySports) Brazilian defender just as he was about to shoot.

England international striker Harry Kane stepped up to take the spot kick and converted it.

Criticism for Arsenal defender Gabriel v Tottenham Hotspur

In our opinion, Arsenal defender Gabriel should have done better for the penalty, but in the end, it did not matter for the Gunners

Mikel Arteta’s side won the North London derby and remain at the top of the Premier League table for the time being.

It was a very good and well-deserved win for Arsenal, and the fans will be celebrating it for sure.
