Jose Enrique has taken to Instagram to give his reaction to injury news regarding Liverpool central defender Joel Matip.
Earlier today, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told the club’s official website that Matip will not be ready for action until after the international break.
The 29-year-old central defender was not in action for the Reds in their Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday.
Fabinho played alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-back against Frank Lampard’s side, and his performance was very good.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website today that “probably after the international break he will be ready again” regarding Matip.
Former Liverpool star Enrique has given his take on the injury to the 29-year-old centre-back, and believes that with Joe Gomez back and Fabinho doing well at the back, the Reds do not need to sign a new centre-back.
It is hard to find a world-class central defender who is not going to cost a lot of money, and there is no point in Liverpool signing a centre-back just for the sake of it, especially if Fabinho is able to play that role nicely.
