Unfortunately, one summer target for Tottenham Hotspur may already be off the table.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Juventus star Weston McKennie.
According to Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel, who told The Last Word on Spurs’ YouTube channel, the North Londoners could sign the USA international once the next transfer window opens.
However, there’s been some ‘bad news’ about the 23-year-old this week.
McKennie broke his foot in Tuesday night’s Champions League draw away to Villarreal, where he faced Giovani Lo Celso.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, he fractured his second and third metatarsus and CBS Sport claimed on Wednesday that it’ll put him out of action for a minimum of two months.
With this being February, it’s very possible that McKennie won’t play again this season if the prognosis of two months is accurate.
And are Tottenham going to spend a lot of money on a player before knowing for definite that this injury won’t leading to further fitness complications at some point in the future? Honestly, probably not.
Antonio Conte has enough problem getting Daniel Levy to spend money on fit footballers, let alone those who haven’t played since breaking their foot.
So unfortunately for Tottenham, they might want to start drawing up alternatives to McKennie – valued at £25 million – for the summer transfer window.
