Lyndon Dykes is flattered to find himself being linked with a host of clubs including Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers, while telling the Daily Record that he is ‘confident’ of making the step up to a higher level.
Reports that Steven Gerrard is keen to bring an old-school battering ram of a number nine to Ibrox should be no surprise whatsoever.
After all, the Gers boss has made it clear that he is a big fan of Dykes after the Livingston talisman battered the Glasgow giants from pillar to post in the autumn.
“Lyndon Dykes is a good player who has given us problems. He is good in the air, good on the floor and physical,” Gerrard told the Scottish Sun.
Whether Rangers are willing to pay £2 million for the Australian’s signature remains to be seen. The Mail claims that Celtic, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and more are also in the race to take Dykes away from the Tony Macaroni Arena.
And while Dykes is fully appreciative to the club that handed him his big break in the Scottish Premiership, the 24-year-old feels that the time may be right to take a step up the ladder.
“I’m really enjoying my time at Livi. But I’m also confident I can push on and reach an even higher level at a bigger club,” says a man who is still hopeful of playing for Scotland at international level.

“There’s been a bit of talk and a few clubs interested but I’ve not heard anything concrete. It’s good to be talked about, but I don’t read too much into it.
“I’m backing myself internationally as well and I think I can keep learning and improving. I want to look back when I retire and know that I’ve pushed as hard as I can in my career.”
Dykes is hardly the most graceful of players in an era where strikers are often chosen for their speed and skill instead of an ability to smash opposition defenders into submission. But effectiveness beats aestheticism every day of the week.
And, with 12 goals and ten assists for Livi in 2019/20, Dykes is as effective as it gets.
