Previewing Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United, Fulham v Wolves, and Newcastle United v Sunderland…
Welcome to the second part of this week’s Fantasy Football tips.
We’re entering the stage of the season where every game is critical, and key players are unlikely to be rested.
The first game on Sunday is Newcastle United hosting Sunderland.
As ever Newcastle’s main goal threats will come from the two Demba’s. Papiss Cisse has two in two at home, and he can make a hero of himself to the Toon Army by netting here.
Sunderland conceded four on their last away trip, and famously lost 5-1 here last season.
A Ryan Taylor free-kick won the game earlier in the season, and we’re sure if he gets a chance again he will have no hesitation trying to repeat the feat.
Yohann Cabaye is back from suspension and will start in midfield alongside Cheik Tiote.
Worrying news for Sunderland is that Stephane Sessegnon has returned late from international duty, but the fact the game is on a Sunday gives him extra time to prepare, and owners of the star midfielder should not panic.
Derby’s are always difficult to call, but Cisse and Ba could edge this one for Newcastle, although we have a good feeling about Frazier Campbell (5.9) for Sunderland, whose pace could worry the Toon defence.
Terry Connor’s Wolves side travel to a Pavel Pogrebnyak inspired Fulham, and the striker could bag his third in as many games here and is priced cheaply at 6.0.
Star man Clint Dempsey has to be a good option here too, and we’d back him as a solid captain choice for this gameweek. He continued his stunning form in midweek by scoring the winner for the USA against Italy.
Fulham’s Stephen Kelly is an injury doubt and could miss the game, while Wolves Steven Fletcher has been confirmed fit.
Good news for Tottenham fans is that Kyle Walker and Gareth Bale have been declared fit and should be involved against Manchester United.
Wayne Rooney, who missed the Norwich game with a throat infection is our top tip for this one, and Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed he is fully recovered from the illness.
Rooney has 11 goals in 10 games against the top seven sides this season, including a brace against Liverpool and Chelsea this month, and will look to continue his scoring run.
We’ve also got a good feeling about Ashley Young who scored for England in midweek, while Emmanuel Adebayor and Louis Saha could cause Jonny Evans problems at the back and you’ve also got to fancy them both to score.
Captain choices for Gameweek 27: The usual strong captain choice of Robin van Persie doesn’t appeal this week, he is 50-50 to play and Liverpool is a tough opponent. So our shortlist is Wayne Rooney, Clint Dempsey, Sergio Aguero, Jonathan Walters, Vincent Kompany, David Silva or Emmanuel Adebayor.
