There wasn’t a lot of positives for Arsenal last night.
Mikel Arteta’s side slumped to a 2-1 defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on a night when not one, but two Gunners players were sent off.
David Luiz and Bernd Leno both saw red for an Arsenal side that dominated the first half but still somehow lost the game.
Not only did they lose, but the North Londoners also missed the chance to move above local rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table and now remain 10th.
But one big positive probably came in the form of Granit Xhaka’s performance.
The Switzerland international is often scapegoated by a lot of Arsenal fans when things go wrong, but Xhaka did so much right last night.
His passing and tackling was on point throughout and he looked distraught at the result once the final whistle sounded.
Leaving the result to one side, it was a fine individual display from the midfielder – who earns £100,000 per week – and Stephen Warnock has told BBC Radio 5 Live that it was an example of Xhaka being ‘back to his best’.
He said: “Granit Xhaka looks in great physical condition. He looks strong, very confident. On the ball, he looks like he has a pass on everytime. He looks back to his best.”
