Speaking on the LadBible TV YouTube channel, Alan Shearer has named Bukayo Saka as his starting right-winger at the Qatar 2022 World Cup for England.
The Arsenal ace has been a key player for the Three Lions for a few years now, and Shearer believes that he should be one of the first names on Gareth Southgate’s teamsheet.
Shearer not only pointed towards his great form for Arsenal, he also noted that the attacker’s mental capacity is brilliant, stating how impressed he has been by Saka bouncing back from the potentially career-crushing disappointment of missing a penalty in the Euro 2020 final.
Indeed, Shearer says that Saka has actually come back stronger from that disappointment, hailing the winger’s mentality.

Saka’s bounced back
Shearer had nothing but good things to say about the youngster.
“Saka, definitely. He’s having a great time with Arsenal, he’s proven he can handle it mentally after what happened at the Euros. He came back stronger. For me he’s definitely on that right side. He has pace, he’s direct, he can create and he can score, so Saka” Shearer said.
Spurred him on
For some, a mistake in a major final can derail a career – just look at how Loris Karius’ stock fell after the 2018 Champions League final.
However, in this case, Saka has seemingly only been spurred on by his mistake at the Euros.
Indeed, not only has his form improved, he’s been deadly from the penalty spot ever since – seemingly intent on making sure that he never misses a penalty in such a high-profile situation ever again.
Saka not only has an elite talent, but he also has an elite mindset, and that bodes well for Arsenal and England in the coming years.
