Stan Collymore has described Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson as ‘indispensable’ for England now.
The Three Lions are gearing up for a World Cup quarter-final against France in Qatar on Saturday.
On Sunday, Gareth Southgate’s side hammered Senegal 3-0 in the round of 16 – and it was the Liverpool captain who not only got the scoring underway, but posted a brilliant overall performance.
At 32, Henderson is among the oldest players in this England squad.
And according to Collymore, speaking to Caught Offside, he is the perfect ‘babysitter’ for the likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham in midfield.
He said: “Went toe-to-toe against their physicality, stayed calm, the drive from Bellingham, Declan Rice, and Jordan Henderson, who may well now be indispensable as babysitter-in-chief to Bellingham and Rice.”

Henderson, a £20 million signing by Liverpool in 2011 [Eurosport], is a massive player for his nation.
Not only because he is a fantastic footballer and very experienced, something which applies to a number of England players, but also because of his leadership.
This is someone who skippered the Reds to Champions League and Premier League glory in back-to-back seasons.
And it’ll be fascinating to see if he can help inspire his country to a quarter-final victory over France this weekend.
As Collymore says, he is absolutely indispensable.
