Stephen Kelly of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers scored a worldie this weekend.

Stephen Kelly of Rangers is seen during the Betfred Scottish League Cup Quarter Final match between Rangers and Ayr United on September 26, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers-owned Stephen Kelly is being praised by fans of his loan club on Twitter.

The Auchenhowie gem scored a blinder for Ayr United in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Queen of the South.

Kelly, a midfielder, volleyed a dropping ball past Rangers team-mate Robby McCrorie to give Ian McCall’s Championship side all three points yesterday.

It was the 19-year-old’s first league goal since joining the second-tier side on a season-long loan in July.

And here’s how United fans reacted to the goal:

Gerrard is reportedly a ‘huge fan’ [The Scottish Sun] of Kelly and his loan manager, McCall, is too.

The Ayr boss said afterwards that the teenager is simply ‘magic’ to watch and that he ‘loves him to death’ [AU Media on YouTube].

McCall shouldn’t get too attached because, long term, he’ll be back at Rangers. Gerrard has a stupid amount of unbelievable midfielders on the books at Ibrox right now, meaning that young Kelly wouldn’t have had a chance of competing for senior football.

But the future really is so very bright and surely he won’t be at Somerset Park beyond the end of this loan.
