Matt Ritchie’s goal in the 65th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Perez started the match and played until the fourth minute of injury time, and the 24-year-old has taken to Twitter to revel in the win.
Newcastle fans have responded to the tweet posted by the Spaniard, who has been on the books of the Magpies since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Tenerife for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £1.5 million.
The win against Jose Mourinho’s United means that Rafael Benitez’s side are now 13th in the Premier League table with 28 points from 27 matches, just two points above the relegation zone.
