Leicester City attacker Ayoze Perez has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the Newcastle United takeover news.

What’s the story?

As announced on Newcastle’s official website today, an investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, has competed the takeover of Newcastle.

This means that Mike Ashley is no longer the owner of Newcastle and has left the Magpies.

For good.

Ayoze Perez’s reaction

Perez, who can play as a forward or as an attacking midfielder, was on the books of Newcastle from 2014 until 2019.

As reported by BBC Sport, Leicester paid the Magpies £30 million in transfer fees for the 28-year-old Spaniard in 2019.

Perez is delighted to see Newcastle get new owners now, as you can see below.

Excitement among Newcastle fans

You only need to turn on Sky Sports News to see just how happy Newcastle fans are at the moment.

Ashley was not popular at all among the Newcastle fans, and Perez’s tweet shows that even players and ex-players know that.

It is a brand new era for Newcastle, and the St. James’ Park faithful should be optimistic about the future.
