Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez has hit a good run of form in recent weeks.
Benitez’s future at Newcastle is still unclear, with the Spanish boss’s contract due to expire in the summer.
Benitez is awaiting assurances from Newcastle’s board that he will have more freedom over transfers and more money to spend.
And Perez is also hoping that Newcastle can come to an agreement with Benitez in the near future.
“Our feeling is that we want him to stay, like the fans do,” the Spanish forward said.
“We can hear them singing exactly that – they want him to stay.
“That’s our feeling in the dressing room.”
As well as Benitez, it is not clear whether Perez will be at St. James’ Park next season.
Perez has hit a brilliant run of form in 2019 which has shown his class.
The Spaniard scored a hat-trick in Newcastle’s last match, which came against Southampton.
Newcastle are next in action against relegation threatened Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow.
