Newcastle United have won just two league games at St. James’ Park this season.
Newcastle have won just twice in front of their own supporters this season, despite having one of the most vocal crowds in the Premier League.
And Perez has admitted that it is very odd that Newcastle are finding it so hard to play on their own ground.
“Something is wrong. I don’t know what exactly but it is a strange thing,” he said.
“We keep struggling at St James’ Park and we can’t struggle as much as we are in home games – that means something is wrong.
“It is strange because there is no consistency. Sometimes it is individual performances, sometimes it’s not like that and it’s team performance.
“It can’t be individual every time as we have changed players and rotated.
“I think there is a piece of the jigsaw that is missing.It is holding us back and it’s why we are struggling.”
Perez’s own form for Newcastle has come under some criticism so far this season.
The Spaniard hit a great run of scoring form towards the back end of last campaign, but he has just two goals to his name this time around.
Newcastle are still stationed just above the relegation zone, but they are far from clear of danger.
Rafael Benitez’s men are currently in 15th place in the Premier League table, just two points above the drop zone.
Newcastle’s next match comes at the weekend, when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
