Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez was very close to former teammate Fabricio Coloccini.

Ayoze Perez has told Spanish publication Eldorsal that things have got more complicated for him at Newcastle United since Fabricio Coloccini left.
Coloccini departed St. James’ Park this summer to join San Lorenzo, after spending eight years with the Magpies.
As Spanish speakers, Perez and Coloccini developed a strong relationship, and the striker admits that he misses having the Argentine international around.

“Complicated, we were always together and he helped me a lot in me settling in when I came to Newcastle,” Perez said, when asked what life has been like without Coloccini.
“It is a little harder but I keep a very great relationship with him, even if from a distance. Now I have a Spanish teammate in Jesus Gamez, gradually we get to know better.”
Gamez joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window, but he has not made much of an impact at St. James’ Park so far.

The 31-year-old has played just twice for the Magpies, but he is expected to be handed a more prominent role as the season progresses.
Perez, meanwhile, has featured a lot more regularly and is one of Newcastle’s key attacking outlets.
The Magpies are currently in fifth place in the Championship table, and Perez is under pressure to fire them to promotion.
Newcastle are next in action later this evening, when they take on fellow high-flyers Norwich City.
