Ayoze Perez made his first start in five matches for Newcastle United against Brentford.

Ayoze Perez has admitted to the Shields Gazette that his time out of Newcastle United’s first-team was difficult to cope with.
Perez had been dropped to the substitutes’ bench for Newcastle’s last four matches prior to their game against Brentford on Saturday.
The Spaniard showed Rafael Benitez exactly what he had been missing, by putting an excellent showing during Newcastle’s 3-1 victory.

And Perez said: “It was quite hard for me after a few games when I was not getting too many minutes. I was determined to get back into the team, and I was happy when that happened. As soon as you get the chance when you are not playing, you have to take it. Hopefully, I have done that.”
Perez was dropped out of the Newcastle team in favour of Mohamed Diame, but the former Hull City man has not hit his best form at St. James’ Park yet.

Diame’s displays have been inconsistent in a Newcastle shirt to date, and it seems likely that Perez will now keep his place.
The 23-year-old remains one of the most creative players in Newcastle’s squad, and he could have a key role to play as the Tynesiders go for promotion this term.
Newcastle are currently in second place in the Championship table, with their next match coming against Barnsley on Tuesday evening.
